Sadly, since Dr. Hay retired a new medical director named Dr Neelesh Narurkar has taken over and things are not the same. I will never go back to Deerfield. Yesterday I took my dog in for an ear infection and before the swab for her ear results came back Dr. Narurkar came into the room and started telling me that the ear infection was caused by allergies and I needed to get my dog on a medication that's $80 a month. I expressed confusion about why we were talking about allergies when we didn't even have the results of the ear swab back and explained how it felt compared to the care I've gotten with Dr. Hay.
Dr. Narurkar became incredibly upset and began screaming to me about the amount of education he has and stated "I'm not trying to make money off of you. If I didn't tell you about the allergies then in a month when she has another ear infection you would be mad at me because I didn't talk about the allergies!" He then stated "If you don't like my care then you can just leave. I guess what you have to decide now is whether you are going to work with me or not!" He walked out of the room at that time without allowing me to respond and he never came back. I was in tears and the vet tech helped me out so much by being the third party communicator for me.
I asked if I could see another Dr. and the vet tech said Dr. Narurkar did not approve of that and would like me to go to another clinic. At that point I asked if I could speak to Dr. Narurkar because I had been there over an hour and he was going to send me away without any treatment for her ear infection. The vet tech came back in and said that he went to his next patients room and that he would not be coming back to talk with me and instead prescribed me a $75 ear medication (that was $30 on 1-800 had had literally no issues until this ear infection on a medication for the rest of her life.
So essentially because I told the truth about how I felt Dr. Narurkar did not have any problem screaming at me and then walking out of the room. Then he took it a step further by refusing to come back into the room when I asked to speak with him and kicking me out of a vet practice that had multiple doctors that could have treated my animal and would have been a better fit for me.
The fact that he wouldn't even come and speak with me is incredibly unprofessional and disrespectful. As the vet tech stated- I just wanted to be heard and this man couldn't even do that.
The cost of the visit was around $200 and Dr. Narurkar had no interaction with my dog and never came back to even explain what they found in her ears. I am so sad to say this but Deerfield is not a safe place for me anymore.

They are HORRIBLE! Since Dr. Hey retired they are all about profits and not care. I trusted my baby to them and they HURT her! Pulled 3 teeth she used to play with and now can’t. She exhibited NO PAIN, NO DISCOMFORT, NOTHING to indicate they needed to be pulled. But during normal teeth cleaning which I now believe they screwed up, suddenly she needed these pulled. And they called my significant other and not me even though they ALWAYS called me before. My baby trusted me and I let her down. Don’t be fooled like I was. DO NOT take your babies to them if you truly care about your pet.

They were awesome. Dr.Hay was very knowledgeable and he understood my concerns.
Their responses were quick and communication was great.
I really appreciate their support and definitely recommend them to the other pet parents.
